First Lady, Melania Tr*mp, has ended Pride Month with what she presumably regards as a message of support for the LGBTQ+ community… while at the same time welcoming a Supreme Court decision that flies in the face of equal rights for trans people.
People on both sides of the political spectrum are now dragging her.
Yesterday, SCOTUS ruled in favor of upholding state bans on trans women competing in women’s sports. The ruling came after two trans students, Becky Pepper-Jackson and Lindsay Hecox, challenged bans in Idaho and Virginia.
The President was among those to welcome the SCOTUS decision.

“BIG WIN: The United States Supreme Court just RULED AGAINST MEN PLAYING IN WOMEN’S SPORTS,” Tr*mp said on Truth Social.
“Respect everyone”
On her own X account, Melania also posted about the ruling. She’s now getting grief from both sides of the political spectrum because of it.
She begins by quoting from her memoir, which she reminds people was a New York Times bestseller.
“‘As many of you may know, I fully support the LGBTQIA+ community. But we must also ensure that our female athletes are protected and respected.’ – MELANIA, #1 NYT Bestseller, (p. 156)
“The U.S. Supreme Court has now legally confirmed this opinion,” she continues. “Under Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, may schools maintain women’s and girls’ sports for biological females? … The answer is yes.”
“America, we can support the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and also protect opportunities for female athletes. Respect everyone and keep girls’ sports fair.
“Both ideals are essential.”
She included a link to the Supreme Court’s decision.

Melania has previously shown some support for the LGBTQ community. She’s hosted events for high-spending members of the Log Cabin Republicans. She was also a guest speaker at one of the group’s events in Florida… although it was later revealed she was paid $237,500 for the privilege. Who paid her remains a mystery, as Log Cabin Republicans denied that the money came from them.
However, for many on the left, her supposed support for the community did not wash.
San Francisco Senator Scott Wiener questioned her suggestion that her pro-queer credentials were obvious.
“‘As many of you know’,” he quoted. “No, we don’t know, particularly since your family is actively working to strip LGBTQ people of basic civil rights.”

The tweet also went down badly with MAGA diehards and some Christians. They were horrified that Melania should even mention the “LGBTQIA+ community”.
If you support LGBTQIA then I cannot support you. Be best, remember? I don’t consider a way of life that cannot produce life. It’s biblical, ma’am. Words are swords, and that isn’t by coincidence. Considering your position and status, you must choose your words carefully.

Everything you think you accomplished to be appreciated by Americans was ruined with this one r*tarded post.
Stop forcing LGBTQ+ an*rchy on us and ruining your husband.
Disgraceful.

You need Jesus just like they do. You and your husband have always supported them while trying to pander to Christian conservatives. Glad I had enough discernment to not fall for it.

LGBTQ+ groups disappointed by SCOTUS ruling
A wide range of LGBTQ+ advocates and campaigners have criticized yesterday’s SCOTUS ruling. Although it applies to only Virginia and Idaho, it extends legal protection to other states with similar bans.
In a statement, HRC President Kelley Robinson said, “No kid – not my kid, not your kid, not any kid – deserves to be discriminated against. Yet this ruling is heartbreaking for transgender student athletes who are being forced to sit on the sidelines simply for who they are.”
The queer youth-oriented non-profit Glisten, formerly known as GLSEN, also expressed its disappointment. Its CEO, Melanie Willingham-Jaggers, said in a statement, “We are deeply disappointed by the outcome of this decision. This ruling represents another significant setback for transgender youth across the country, limiting their ability to fully engage in school life. Exclusion from these spaces shapes not only athletic access, but the broader message about who should be valued and included in our schools and societal ecosystem.”
