1. Heartstopper Vol. 6 by Alice Oseman
(@ireadya)Be still my heart-stopper! With the highly-anticipated finale, a film entitled Heartstopper Forever, arriving on Netflix on July 17, now’s the perfect time to brush up on its graphic-novel source material.
The final installment in the bestselling LGBTQ+ series, Heartstopper Vol. 6 — available for $19.99 on Amazon — finds our favorite young couple at a fork in the road. With Nick headed off to college and Charlie focused on his bid to become Head Boy, the two young men are forced to consider who they are without each other and if their first loves are really meant to be their last. And yes, they’re finally kissing on the cover!!!
My fingers are crossed for happy tears, because I will be crying regardless.
2. A print that gives HomeGoods, but gayer
HomeGoods could never! Forget the pleasantries, this unframed print — available in multiple sizes from $8-$36 at LGBTQ Outpost — greets guests with a simple warning: “If you’re homophobic, get the f*ck out of my house.” How’s that for a housewarming? It’s just one of several purposefully loud designs from Mouthy Broad, a bold and unapologetic Maryland-based brand treating art like activism. And don’t worry, they don’t just talk the talk; a portion of every sale supports nonprofits “putting real work into action.”
3. Nerds Bomb Pops
If red, white, and blue aren’t your favorite colors at the moment — you know, for, ahem, whatever reason — might I recommend the surprisingly delicious Nerds Bomb Pops, available in 12-packs, starting at $2.76 via Walmart or your local grocer. Willy Wonka’s silliest candy shouldn’t taste this delectable in popsicle form, but something about the tart strawberry, sweet watermelon, and tangy grape combo hits the tastebuds just right.
And there’s only 40 calories per ice-pop, so you can eat the entire box after a night out and wake up guilt-free.
4. Peppa Pig for Pitchfork
Peppa Pig, an animated 4-year-old animal who loves to sing and once squabbled with Adele, stopped by Pitchfork to promote her new album One Pig Happy Family, and while she may be a swine, she’s got beef.
The “It’s Peppa Pig” singer is puzzled by shoegaze, espouses her love for Beyoncé and P!nk, gushes over Christmastime, and most notably, throws shade at Clairo, which was enough to draw the ire of PinkPantheress and Charli XCX. So, yes, most of its 8-minute runtime will be indiscernible to anyone who’s not fluent in Gay Twitter X.
5. Hudson Williams in a mankini
Hudson Williams jumped in the shower and rocked a red mankini for a new Canadian short film called Human Nature. You could also call it human nature, but honestly, I have nothing workplace-appropriate to say.
6. “Nosedive” by Aubory Bugg
Ms. Aubory Bugg, you will be hearing from my therapist!! In the video for her new single “Nosedive,” the Nashville-based singer-songwriter croons about being on the precipice of relationship-greatness with a girl, only for her first love to swoop back in and steal her away.
Between her Carole King-esque sensibilities and lyrical jabs like “It’s no surprise / You love mess,” she creates the perfect soundtrack for disappointed yearning and sitting in a dive bar thinking, “I should’ve known this was going to happen.” Expect similar sad-gay vibes when her debut album I Think I Had Something Once drops on September 18.
7. An office-gay-friendly way to eat salads
The Salad Pod inventors saw a soggy, soppy, drenched hole in the market and they filled it! This mason jar-inspired container, available for $25 on Uncommon Goods, allows you to take salads on the go with a separate dressing capsule and a front hatch that instantly transforms it into a bowl. It’s so ingenious that I don’t know how me (and my sad-desk salads) didn’t think of it years ago.
8. Layla Taylor comes out as bi
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives plot twist I did NOT see coming was 25-year-old Layla Taylor coming out as bisexual and soft-launching a girlfriend on social media this week. (“Chivalry isn’t dead it’s w the lesbians,” she wrote on Instagram.) Say what you want about organized religion, but these women know how to make good reality TV — and I can’t wait to see her bust out a carabiner in Season 5.
9. Bebe Rexha’s dad
On the heels of her new album Dirty Blonde, which dropped last month, Bebe Rexha took to social media to share photos of her hot dad from the ’80s. You know, for research purposes. Honestly, the other pop girls need to take notes, because THIS is how you lock down a gay fanbase!
10. Pee-wee Herman (Bomber Jacket Version)
I know you are, but what am I?!? This Pee-wee Herman inspired bomber jacket (available for $245 on pre-order at Bull Airs) pays homage to Paul Reubens’ legacy and his most iconic costume with a playful design that looks like his infamous suit jacket and bowtie from afar. In actuality, it buttons up, has a fully-lined interior and front-hand pockets. Unfortunately, a covetable, super shiny, red bicycle is not included.
