When last we checked in on Tr*mp’s $10 billion lawsuit, he was deep in the FAFO trenches. A judge had just compelled the ailing octogenarian to turn over critical financial documents concerning his revocable trust, and members of his inner circle, including his grift-happy children Ivanka and Don Jr., were possibly about to be subpoenaed in the ongoing defamation battle.
Somehow, when Tr*mp initially sued the BBC for airing an allegedly misleading edit of a Tr*mp speech concerning the events of January 6th, he didn’t stop to think about the consequences. Now, he’s fighting to keep the BBC’s hands off his private financial documents, as well as his Twitter DMs and diary entries from the day of the insurrection.
Yesterday, Tr*mp filed an emergency motion to stay the Florida judge’s decision. It’s a last-minute Hail Mary pass, and Tr*mp is not likely to get his way. More importantly, it looks guilty as hell.

Tr*mp’s lawyers are now trying to claim that it’s the BBC, not Tr*mp, who’s making the court case into a media circus. Arguing that the mammoth media company is attempting to “wrongly exploit this litigation for its own political benefit,” Tr*mp’s legal team is desperately fighting against the facts already established by the BBC in previous filings.
Because Tr*mp claimed defamation and potential revenue loss due to the 2024 documentary segment that never actually aired in the US, the BBC argued that we’ll need to see the receipts to prove it. They’ve got Tr*mp on the defense, despite being the defendants themselves.
Meanwhile, the optics are not fantastic.
Winning the last-minute motion is already an uphill battle, and in an effort to turn the case around, Tr*mp’s attorneys are now trying to revise the lawsuit to claim that the BBC coached interviewees to implicate Tr*mp in the segment, as well as not doing enough to geoblock the segment from making its way (albeit illegally) to US screens.
But surprise! The BBC is already calling BS on Tr*mp’s last-minute motion.
In a Wednesday brief, the company pointed out correctly that nothing about Tr*mp’s stay motion counts as an actual emergency, and shouldn’t be treated as such. It’s certainly an emergency in Tr*mp’s deteriorating mind, since his team rightly put forth that “[o]nce the Trust were to begin handing those records over to the BBC, that disclosure could not be undone.”
I mean… no sh*t? Unluckily for the Tr*mp trust, while that disclosure isn’t really a problem for the rest of the world. In fact, the rest of us would love to see what’s in those files. In the words of the media giant’s lead counsel, “simply because the Trump Trust faces an obligation it does not agree with, and is confronted with an imminent deadline of its own making by waiting to file its stay motion until the day before its first Court-ordered disclosure day, does not make its request an emergency.”
Oop!
The BBC is playing hardball, and Tr*mp’s team, used to dealing with an obsequious American media, didn’t see it coming. Now they’re in the soup.
