DEEDS (Dementia Engaged and Empowered in Derry & Strabane)

Deeds offers a wide range of programmes for people living with dementia and their families (carers) living in the Derry/Strabane District Council. The aim of our project is to keep people living with dementia well for longer in the community.Referral can be through social worker or GP, through self referral or family member. There is a referral form to be filled in and returned to us. Then we do an home visit to ensure to assess if they are suitable for our service. We have social and activity groups in the Old Library Trust Healthy Living Centre where Deeds is based and then we have a fantastic partnership with the following centres:Shantallow Community CentreHillCrest Trust Caw Nelson Drive Action Group Strabane District Caring Services Learmount Community Group Ltd in Park4 Week Carers Education Course: for families looking after someone with dementiaParticipants need to book in advance:To register contact Eilish on 02871 373870 or email eilish@olt.ieMeditation and sound Bath Classes:Meditation: Wednesdays 11am – 12 noonFamily Referral: No referral is needed for carers to come on programmes just for those living with dementia.This service is for people living with dementia and carers.We cover the Derry and Strabane Council area
