Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is an early intervention preventative programme for first time young parents. It involves intensive home visiting by a Family Nurse from early pregnancy until the child reaches their second birthday. The programme is strength based and the materials used are rooted in theories of attachment, self-efficacy and human ecology.
Goals for the programme include:
Improved pregnancy outcomes
Improved child health and development
Improved parenting practices and behaviour
Reduction in childhood injuries, neglect and abuse
Fewer subsequent pregnancies and greater intervals between births
Increased maternal employment and reduced welfare use
Increased father involvement
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Under 19 years old
First baby (previous miscarriage, stillbirth, termination still eligible)
No later than 28 weeks gestation (60% required before 16 weeks)
No planned adoption
Living in Greater Lisburn, Ballynahinch, Newtownards (we will accept referrals for any young person aged 15yrs and under Trust Wide.)
