The Tr*mp propaganda machine wants us to believe that military troops and veterans are randier than ever under the current regime. A New York Post exclusive claimed yesterday that our troops are having historic amounts of sex both overseas and at home, a conclusion drawn from the record number of Viagra (and generic Viagra) prescriptions given out to service members this year.
But as usual, the truth is a lot softer and floppier. While there’s certainly been a boom in erectile pill prescriptions under Tr*mp—108,332 Pentagon-approved prescriptions to be exact—we can draw a number of conclusions from this data, including the one that tells us that men in active deployment need quite a bit more help getting things going in the bedroom than they did under Biden.
“16.5 percent more people have erectile dysfunction in Tr*mp’s military than they did under Biden,” is how V Spehar puts it, which adds a bit more context to the situation. You might assume that service members would be having less sex during active duty, as opposed to the peaceful, non-chaotic downtime they experienced under Biden’s administration. But the reality is, we don’t actually know how much sex these guys are having. All we know is that they’re having more trouble maintaining an erection than ever before. Draw your own conclusions!

The problem extends to ex-military members as well. In 2025, the total number of prescriptions for both current conscripts and veterans came to 639,355. Which, yes, is a lot of flagging members in need of a serious boost.
Under ordinary circumstances, the only thing to say here would be “good for them!” But there’s a serious contradiction (emphasis on “dic”) between the way cis men in the military are treated and the civilian women and trans people who still aren’t guaranteed the right to a safe, legal abortion or life-saving gender-affirming care.
This last point is particularly salient. During a 2025 case, a judge pointed out that the focus on banning trans military members on the basis of cost doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, seeing as the national bill for ED pills given to service members totals about $42 million per year, eight times the amount spent on gender-affirming care for trans soldiers. That number is also far above the projected cost of gender-affirming care for trans prisoners, back when that was a given in 2022.
There’s also the broader problem of a broken healthcare system that can’t even guarantee necessary medical coverage for civilians. Just last week, the Washington Post reported that an immunocompromised woman in Missouri was denied prior authorization for Hizentra, a medication she relies on to keep her immune system healthy enough to fight infection. She later ended up in the ER. Thanks to a for-profit medical industry, she’s not alone: a report from last July showed that more than half of American adults have had requests for critical medication denied by insurance. And let’s not even get started on the war Tr*mp is waging on HIV care and PrEP access.
But the current government sees no issue shouldering the $42 million cost of specifically treating service members’ issues in the bedroom.
