Back in the fall, Nicki Minaj turned her entire back on the LGBTQ+ community that made up a majority of her fan base when she came clean about her support for That Man in the White House.
Today, That Man in the White House repaid the favor… in the weirdest way possible.
Nobody’s sure if he meant to mistake Minaj for Small Business Association administrator Kelly Loeffler, but as usual, no one’s that surprised either. It appears Tr*mp meant to call out Loeffler in a speech about her husband, stock exchange billionaire Jeffrey Sprecher, but he somehow ended up getting his wires crossed.

The awkward switcheroo happened at yesterday’s Rose Garden lunch, where 80-year-old Tr*mp gave a speech to celebrate yet another of his grifts: Tr*mp Accounts, a system whereby you can set up your child to get stiffed by Tr*mp in the form of a dubious savings account.
Minaj first outed herself as MAGA Barbie back in October, at the Tr*mp Accounts Summit, the event that gave us those unbelieveable photos of Minaj’s wig staging a quiet protest next to her “favorite president.”
Minaj was in attendance at the Rose Garden lunch and did recieve a separate shoutout, in which the President called her “hot” and an ally of “common sense.” The mystery here is, why did Tr*mp confuse Minaj with Kelly Loeffler, and why did no one step in to amend that mistake?
Likely for the same reason that no one in Tr*mp’s proximity ever tries to correct his many errors in speech, judgment, and general understanding of the world: they don’t want to get chewed out. But the speech, in addition to highlighting Tr*mp’s even more slurred speaking style, revealed deepening cracks in the President’s public-facing persona. At this point, he’s basically the Liberty Bell.
Minaj’s own presence, and ostensible embarrassment at being credited for lifting up small businesses across the country, contains an even deeper mystery. As one of the most high-profile MAGA celebrities to emerge in Tr*mp’s second term, the rapper has remained strangely quiet about her allegiance to the MAGA overlord. Despite nearly every D-list artist dropping out of the Great American State Fair performance slate, she didn’t step up to headline. Fellow early-oughts rapper Flo Rida, meanwhile, was the lone act who remained on the slate, and even he tried his best to distance himself, and his energetic set, from Tr*mp.
Flo Rida stayed the course, and tried to be as bipartisan as possible in defending his choice to perform at Freedom250. But while the official social media account for the event—along with MAGA influencers—tried to spin the rapper’s set into a win for Tr*mp, Flo Rida was quietly endorsing Florida Democrat Bernard Taylor on his Instagram story.
Was the rapper’s public endorsement a quick, savvy way to keep his liberal fan base, or a direct response to the bedlam of the actual festival? It’s anybody’s guess. The interesting part is that neither Minaj nor Flo Rida are actually as aligned with MAGA as they could be, despite allowing themselves to become bizarre token talking points for brainwashed Tr*mp fanatics.
