Compton’s Café is an inclusive, convivial and supportive network of regional and local organisations in the UK, all working towards a shared purpose: ensuring and protecting gender identity equality for transgender, non-binary, intersex and gender diverse (TQIA+) people.
Compton’s Café is named in honour and memory of the 1966 Compton’s Cafeteria Riot, a foundational event that specifically relates to TQIA+ gender identity, orientation and rights, and which took place three years before Stonewall.
Sixty years later here we are again, fighting for our rights to exist as true justice demands. United we stand to ensure they endure.
