Sensory Support Services (Belfast Trust)
The Sensory Support Team provides social work, technical aid and rehabilitation for people aged 18 and over who have:
hearing loss (deaf)
sight loss (blind)
dual sensory loss
We also provide mobility training for children aged under 18.
We offer a range of services including:
individual assessment risk assessment social work support for service users and families assessment and supply of specialist equipment
independent living skills assessment and training if required
mobility and orientation assessments for independent travel
information and advice for service users and their families
sign language communication support for deaf service users
arranging registration for service users with sight loss
support at the low vision clinic
support at the audiology clinic
signposting to voluntary agencies or other Trust services where appropriate
sensory disability awareness training for healthcare professionals and others involved with service users
All of the above services can be provided in a service user’s home, school or workplace.
How to access the service
We accept referrals from: service users family members or carers GPs other healthcare professionals voluntary organisations
