JAM Card is a credit card-sized plastic card that people with learning difficulties or learning disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Conditions can carry and use to let anyone they encounter either in retail outlets, public and private transport, and other areas of public life, that the card-holder needs Just A Minute (JAM) of time, patience and understanding.
This innovative project was initiated directly by people living with learning disabilities and learning difficulties and/or Autism Spectrum Conditions who were involved in each stage of development with the aim of them having something practical and tangible to assist them in addressing the real issues they faced when accessing public services.
The card has proved to be a real success with those who use it and the businesses and service providers who are presented with it, as it has given card-holders extra confidence and brought renewed focus on customer care, thus helping improve customer service standards for everyone.
To improve the JAM card and expand its reach, there is now an app available.
The app is available free from the Play Store as a download for Android phones, and iPhone users. (Search for JAM Card).
Just like the physical card it will let the user inform service providers that they need Just a Minute of patience, however as it is an app on their phone it will always be at hand making it even easier to use.
