What the service does
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) promotes emotional wellbeing and delivers mental health services to children and young people up to the age of 18.
Our mental health workers help children and young people with complex mental health needs and support their parents and/or carers. The following teams and services fall under the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service:
Child and Family Clinic
Crisis Assessment and Intervention
Team
Drug and Alcohol Mental Health Service
Eating Disorder Youth Service
Family Trauma Centre
Knowing Our Identity
Primary Mental Health Team
Where necessary, we will refer children and young people for intensive care, support and treatment in hospital.
We also offer support and training to:
school staff
youth workers
GPs
others who work alongside children and young people
Who provides the service ?
Our team of specialist mental health workers includes:
clinical nurse specialists
mental health social workers
consultant psychiatrists
clinical psychologists
family therapists
How to access the service
If you think you need to see someone from the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, you should talk to one of the following:
GP
teacher
school nurse
family social worker
If you care for a child or young person who may need specialist mental health support, you should also talk to one of the people named above.
If necessary, they will refer the child or young person to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.
